A legislative measure has been proposed earlier this afternoon by Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman that would give local governments the same power to seek voter approval to exceed property tax caps as Indiana school corporations have. Read more here.
Although I would likely vote against such referendum, as I am inclined to do with the upcoming FWCS initiative, I would still support the right to have such a referendum brought before the people to decide the issue.

What I find interesting is that local governments always want the flexibility "to allow the people" to decide and then they game the process to hold the referendums during the elections that have the lowest turnout.
But in general I'm a populist so I say if the people want to pay more in taxes then so be it...
