Indiana's NewsCenter reports that the Fort Wayne Hotel and Fundome is no longer fun ... and is no longer a hotel. The Fort Wayne television station says that the place is locked up.
The Fort Wayne Hotel and Fundome was previously branded as a Holiday Inn. It is located along I-69 on California Road near Hillegas.
The hotel was very popular during the time it was a Holiday Inn. It was once the site of a Dan Coats congressional campaign victory.
That is so funny. I was driving by it the other night on the way home from the midget racing at the Coliseum for the first time in a long time, and I saw the new signage and I thought to myself, "wow that place has gone down hill." Honestly, the "Fun Dome" for a hotel sounds like it might get a reputation it (probably ?) wasn't looking to have.

It was a great Holiday Inn in it's day, but went steadily downhill after losing the H.I. franchise.
Our reunion committee (Snider High School Class Of 76)booked the place in 2006 for our 30 year and a lot of us "out of towners" stayed there. While it was adequate, it was pretty obvious they were struggling.
Nothing like the heyday of "Chasers"!
