Mayor Robert E. Armstrong passed away tonight at Parkview Hospital.
A public servant, a coach, an athlete, a teacher, a mentor, a husband, a father, a grandfather.
A friend.
Farewell to one of Fort Wayne's fairest sons.
A job well done, Bob. A life well-lived.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight.
I remember when he was campaigning for his first term as Mayor he knocked on our door. My mother and he had a conversation.....I am certain it was the first time I ever spoke with a "politician".

He was my Dad's favorite mayor, if for no other reason than Dad met him on one of those door-to-door campaign tours.

I believe Bob Armstrong was Fort Wayne's best mayor. He wasn't flashy or self-promoting, just a low-key, down-to-earth guy. My thoughts are also with his family.
