The last time members of the GOP leadership was negotiating on our behalf in regard to the property tax, they accepted an incidental (to them) compromise — the Indiana Collective Bargaining Act. That, of course, was the enabling legislation of the modern teachers union. That little compromise has grown into a monster. It is the primary reason public education here not only fails our students but consumes the lion's share of government spending.
