Colleen Condron sends this photograph of her grandparents during World War II.
John Condron was career military; he retired from the Air Force at the rank of colonel in the early 1960's.
Ms. Condron, familiar to listeners of Northeast Indiana Public Radio, writes:
This picture of my Grams and Gramps is the only WW II era picture I have of him. It's my favorite of the two of them, because it's so evocative of the period.
He wasn't a pilot....I'm not entirely sure WHAT he did, but I do know that in his later career, he was in public information.
I remember him telling stories...usually humorous ones, since that's the kind of man he was. I can't imagine what it was like for him, and for his family, being separated for sometimes a year or more, and not knowing when or if he'd be home.
