Author Michael Wallis and photographer Michael Williamson were in Fort Wayne yesterday to promote their new book on the impact of the historic Lincoln Highway on America. They are traveling coast-to-coast to promote the book about North America's first transcontinental paved highway, The Lincoln Highway: The Great American Road Trip.
Mr. Wallis has a long resume. He wrote an acclaimed book on Route 66 that provided much of the background for the Pixar movie "Cars." Mr. Wallis voiced the character of the Sheriff in the movie.
Mr. Williamson is a Pulitzer prize winning author and photographer and was named Photographer of the Year in 1995 by the National Press Photographers Association.
Yesterday, they met people at Woodson Motorsports after visiting Cindy's Diner.
Woodson Motorsports at Washington and Clay is located in a building originally housing a Ford dealership on the Lincoln Highway. Mr. Wallis gave the following video interview with me yesterday. I believe Fort Wayne needs to concentrate much more on historical tourism and Mr. Wallis speaks to that in the interview.

The visit of Mr. Wallis and Mr. Williamson was hosted by Jan Shupert-Arick of the Indiana Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association.
