Thanks again to FortwayneObserved for doing everybody else's job. Mistakes are made, and public officials are only human. At the very least, though, an apology is due — both to those who support and oppose Harrison Square, a project that could have been derailed by such malfeasance. Also, a pattern of official misconduct should be acknowledged. It concerns those officials who prefer to think of themselves not as bureaucrats, public servants or favor-seekers but as executives running government "like a business." They more closely resemble people mishandling a checkbook; all the mistakes turn out to favor their balance estimate.
