Fort Wayne Observed is now back on the job.
The Fort Wayne Observed Fall Conference went well yesterday. I extend a personal and heart-felt thanks to our presenters and attendees.
Dr. Cecil Bohanon, State Senator David Long, State Representative Bob Kuzman, and Dr. Ned Lamkin were outstanding. Attorney Alan VerPlanck and Fort Wayne City Council member Tom Smith graciously agreed to serve on a panel after Dr. Lamkin's main remarks.
FWOb will have more on the Fall Conference, some art notes, and photos from Election Day yet to come as we get caught up with the weblog duties.
FWOb would like to take special note of the new weblog in town by Fort Wayne Police Officer Everett White, a talented contributor of photographs to Fort Wayne Observed. He's a blogger really on the job.
Mr. Fetcho notes some news Mr. White has made with good detective work stemming from a view of a YouTube Video.
Jeff Wiehe writes in the News-Sentinel today:
Detective Everett D. White of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Neighborhood Response Team was off duty and at home Oct. 19. He spent time browsing through videos on the Web site YouTube .com, and somehow came across one titled “Burglars Caught in Fort Wayne.”
He clicked.
The video, dated Oct. 10, showed a man walking inside an apparently vacant house from the rear and letting another man inside through the front door. One of the men, who police say was Richard K. Klaff, 36, left the home with an 8-foot piece of copper wire worth about $15. Shortly after the two men walked out the door, two Fort Wayne Police officers walked in, called by the homeowner.
White showed the video to his co-workers the next day. One recognized the two men.
Thursday, Klaff was charged in Allen Superior Court with felony burglary, theft and misdemeanor invasion of privacy.
