Fort Wayne Observed has learned that David Gladieux will be named by Allen County Sheriff-elect Ken Fries to be the Chief Deputy of the Allen County Sheriff's Department.
Mr. Gladieux will succeed his new boss when Mr. Fries becomes Sheriff on January 1. Mr. Fries was named to the post of Chief Deputy last May by outgoing Sheriff James Herman.
Sheriff-elect Fries will also be announcing the appointment of Captains to head various divisions of the Sheriff's Department at a 10:30 AM news conference at the Allen County Courthouse in Fort Wayne.
Jeff Jackson will become Captain of the Administrative Division; Brad Kohrman will become Captain of Operations; Shawn Lawhorn will become Captain of Special Operations.
The Operations Division will oversee what are currently the detective and traffic divisions. These are the patrol and investigative divisions of the Allen County Police Department. The new post for Special Operations will include the SWAT team, canine, training and interdiction areas of responsibility.
Mr. Fries made the reestablishment of an inter-departmental drug interdiction task force a top focus in his recent campaign for Sheriff.
