Fort Wayne Police Detective Supervisor Robert Girod, Sr. is writing a book on sensational murders. Part of the book will feature the Starved Rock murders which took place in Illinois in 1960.
Dan Churney, a reporter for the website of The Times, a combined newspaper serving Streator and Ottawa, writes:
An Indiana sleuth plans to include a chapter on the 1960 Starved Rock slayings in his forthcoming book.
Robert J. Girod Sr., a detective supervisor with the police department in Fort Wayne, Ind., and an adjunct professor of criminal justice and public management, is gathering information on the La Salle County case that held national headlines 46 years ago and still generates controversy.
"I think they got the right guy, but I can see why people might question it," Girod said.

The working title for Girod's pending book is "Infamous Murders" and will include about 12 to 14 chapters, each chapter detailing murder cases between 1907 and 1969 that involved either famous people or places. He hopes to finish the work this year and then shop for a publisher.
Girod has written a textbook, "Profiling the Criminal Mind."
Girod said he first learned of the Starved Rock case while researching a still-unsolved slaying that occurred in July 1960 on Michigan's Mackinac Island. At that time, Girod noted, investigators suspected a connection to the Starved Rock murders -- a suspicion Girod said he doesn't share.
