Robert Rouse gives a glimpse on his weblog of a recent karaoke fundraiser held for Tina Taviano. His post includes photographs of many local candidates with microphone in hand. He noted the following folks in attendance, most of whom sang:
Some of the people I recognized at the event included Tina Taviano (of course), Indiana House candidate, Phil GiaQuinta, US Congressional candidate, Kevin Boyd, Maria Para, Karen Goldner and more.
Mr. Rouse didn't include the name of Democratic House candidate and Fort Wayne School Board member Geoff Paddock on that list. Knowing Mr. Paddock, he probably follows the example of his hero, John Kennedy, who was known for never wearing a funny hat and not singing in public.
However, even Jack Kennedy sang once. It was on the four-day trip to Ireland during his Presidency. Although one biographer, James Robert Carroll, noted that he sang with feeling but off-key.
We suspect that quite a few of the candidates at the fund-raiser sang the same way.
