Niki Kelly has been all over the Tim Berry for auditor story, reporting his plans before any other news media outlet. Now she's got the latest big development:
Gov. Mitch Daniels’ endorsement of Fort Wayne native Tim Berry for state auditor next year cleared the GOP field Friday, with all three previous candidates withdrawing from the race.
State Treasurer Tim Berry made his candidacy for auditor official during a Friday morning news conference. Then, moments later, Daniels said he was supporting Berry’s bid.
“I was very surprised Tim was willing to extend his public service. Indiana is lucky,” Daniels said. “We need a good partner … in returning fiscal responsibility and discipline to the state, and Tim will be great in that role.”
