Indiana Daily Insight reports the following:
Expect State Treasurer Tim Berry (R) to make an interesting political announcement this morning in Indianapolis.
Of course, loyal FWOb readers will remember that the last time Berry was expected to make an interesting political announcement, he left the audience disappointed.
Because of term limits, Berry can't run for treasurer again, and many anticipate he'll return to Fort Wayne to run for mayor in 2007. However, because his children are young and he's hesitant to uproot them from Indianapolis, that's not likely, at least in the near future.
Instead, I've been hearing whispers that Berry will announce he's going to run for state auditor, a position currently held by fellow Republican Connie Kay Nass, who is also coming to the end of her second term.
We'll find out later this morning...
UPDATE: Niki Kelly confirms the rumors in this morning's JG. Berry's running for auditor.
