A video featuring Fort Wayne based Steel Dynamics is on the official schedule for tonight's final session of the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa.
The official schedule issued for tonight's session has "Video" "Bain Steel Dynamics" listed midway through program. Remarks by Bob White, National Chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign will be followed by a video labeled "Bain Trailer", then remarks by Tom Stemberg, a founder of the Staples office supply chain. The "Bain Steel Dynamics" video will be shown immediately after Mr. Stemberg's remarks.
Both Staples and Steel Dynamics were partially funded by Bain Capital at inception. Mr. Romney headed Bain Capital at the time of those investment decisions.
The segments are part of a build-up to the Acceptance Speech by Mitt Romney following his introduction by US Senator Marco Rubio. The build-up includes remarks by family and friends of Mr. Romney, then the segments touting Mr. Romney's business experience including Steel Dynamics, his record as Governor and his record in heading the Salt Lake Winter Olympics.
A source told Fort Wayne Observed that it is likely the Steel Dynamics will focus on the Butler, Indiana, plant of Steel Dynamics. Camera crews were at the plant earlier this year and some video from that shoot have been incorporated into Romney commercials aired during the primary elections leading up to Mr. Romney's nomination.
I'm glad they will be featured and doubly glad they aren't "running away" from the Bain story and connection, it's a wonderful success story and needs to be trumpeted not muted!!
