St. Peter's Steeple Being Put in Place

St Peters One third steeple Jan 12 09

The restoration of the historic St. Peter's Catholic Church steeple continues apace.

Martin Enterprises has erected its large crane in front of the 19th century church.  The first of three sections has been put in place by Martin's.

Hopefully it won't be struck by lightning.

Ed. note: The top part of the steeple has a very heavy-duty lighting rod on it. The frame of the steeple is structural steel. It looks formidable enough to deal with any lightning strike.

I'm happy to see this long-term investment made in St. Peter's. It's a beautiful place and one of the city's treasures.
