The jazzman has died. Bob Green was a true Fort Wayne treasure.
If you hadn't heard Bob play, you really missed something of this town. He had a lifelong fascination with jazz and jazz musicians. He felt the music and he much admired the talents he met along the way.
His were not all the stories about the legendary talents, although he had met, heard and played with some of the true legends of jazz. But it was his recounting of the talents of many musicians, well-known or not, whom he met over the decades in which his true nature shown. He admired talent.
Bob was also actively involved in local Republican politics and served the Armstrong and Helmke administrations.
Bob Green graced my house with his talent and it is a special memory for us.
And, this South Side graduate graced this town and that is a special memory for all of us.
