The Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission just voted to seek a liquor license in the name of the City for Harrison Square.
As Greg Leatherman explained, the original agreement called for Hardball Capital to hold the permit. However, it was discovered that state law allows a municipality to hold a liquor license in a municipality's name without affecting the quota of liquor licenses in a jurisdiction.
So, will that be neat? Or on the rocks?
So that's another $70k-$100k handout we're giving Hardball Capital?
Great...
Ed. note: Mr. Leatherman told the Commission members that the cost of a three-way license for a municipality was but $1,000.
You are correct that the City's obtaining the license does spare Hardball Capital from the cost of obtaining a license from a private party.

Is this for the baseball stadium or is it for the whole complex? I can't see the city selling alcoholic beverages in the parking garage and/or will it cover the businesses in the "Harrison" retail spaces?

so, is that a boozedoggle?

In a heartbeat this would be great! It's a good investment for the city of Fort Wayne to obtain the liquor license for an inexpensive $1,000.
If I understand correctly, would the city receive total liquor sales and profits
being the licensed municipality?
If so, would this be an incentive to help defry costs of the bond?

Greg Leatherman works for the City of Fort Wayne and not for Hardball Capital, correct?
The City of Fort Wayne has the option to buy the license to sell alcoholic beverages at the Harrison Square Stadium and then to receive total profits from liquor retail sales from Harrison Square?
Hardball Capitals' Attonery's are from Baker Daniels & Shoaff. We all should know the SilverHawks Baseball Stadium in South Bend, In is owned by a person within
Baker, Daniels & Shoaff.
Maybe, Fort Wayne can earn some liquor revenues/holding rights to keep this Harrison Square Baseball Stadium project solid & moving the City's rate of return investment moving forward.
Please look into this and share your thoughts.

Bobett - The stadium management agreement between the city redevelopment commission and Hardball Capital GIVES ALL the liquor profits to Hardball - no matter who owns the license. What a deal! Since the Indiana Code covering the use of property tax deferments DOES NOT ALLOW ANY retail establishment from benefiting in any way from these , a liquor store CANNOT exist anywhere in The Harrison if tax deferments are applied - Actually, some question if a restaurant in the Harrison retail area could even legally serve alcoholic beverages since it would require a license under the applicable Indiana Code governing them.
