Long Thompson considering Evansville's Weinzapfel

Weinzapfel_2 Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jill Long Thompson is in Evansville today and speculation exists that she will be asking Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel to consider joining her on the ticket at the Lieutenant Governor candidate.

Mr. Weinzapfel has been touted as a rising star in Indiana Democratic politics since he won election as mayor.  Mr. Weinzapfel also has legislative service that would be important given that Ms. Long Thompson's experience has been in municipal and federal offices.

Mr. Weinzapfel had refrained from endorsing either Democratic candidate for governor before this past Tuesday's primary.  He lost a bid for congress in 1996.
