Travis Holdman newest Indiana state senator
Travis Holdman was selected to serve as Indiana's newest state senator at a District 19 caucus held at Bluffton High School. Mr. Holdman was selected on the fourth ballot. He is filling the vacancy created by the death of the well-respected David Ford.
District 19 includes parts of Allen County as well as parts or all of Adams, Wells, Blackford and Grant Counties. Mr. Holdman has served as a Wells County Council member. He is an attorney and a former President of Markle Bank.
Sandi Huddleston of the Indiana Republican State Central Committee conducted the caucus proceedings. State Senate President Pro Tempore David Long of Fort Wayne was in the audience at the caucus.
I recently went to a high speed rail presentation in Fort Wayne. I think in the future high speed rail is going to help society in many ways. It will help reduce traffic on the streets and in the air. The efficiency of rail is something we need to start to grasp. Europe has done so and we should follow. The ground work should start as soon as possible. The cost of the acquisition of real estate will only go up as we wait. With the automobile industry in trouble and with many parts being made over seas this would create many long term good paying jobs. Rail is a very safe form of travel, work can be done on the train, phone calls and text messaging can also be done on the trail as one rides. Please seriously consider the high speed rail for the future of our society.
Thank you,
