Gividen: "Why Libertarians (usually) lose elections"
Former Libertarian nominee for governor and former Libertarian Kenn Gividen provides an analysis of what he thinks is wrong with Indiana Libertarians ... and how he thinks they can get back on track.
His Friday weblog post is titled "Why Libertarians (usually) lose elections." He writes:
In 2006 the party showed signs of disrepair and disrepute. The excitement was gone, financial woes were evident and, more importantly, the cohesive spirit of unity that fueled the party’s past successes had surrendered to agenda-driven special interests.
Serious mistakes were made.

Just a crazy idea here: Maybe people don't vote for Libertarians because they'd like to vote for a winning candidate once in a while.

I heard a Libertarian proud of the fact he takes money from the government. It's all legal, but still--isn't it funny that someone from a party that works for LESS government influence proudly relies on the government for support?

People feel they are wasting a vote if you don't vote Republican or Democrat for the most part, unless you have a really popular candidate. That's why they lose.
They are still viewed as a fringe group that only the "crazies" run with in many circles. And the most vocal Libertarian I know of around here just flat comes off as annoying.
