Many fondly remember the exhortations to sell GRIT that were found in the advertising in the backs of comic books. Yesterday, a group of newspaper staffers outside the Fort Wayne Newspaper building at 600 W. Main Street were discussing the sale of the paper to Ogden and GRIT phenomenon. Each subsequent person who joined the group would bring up GRIT anew.
When a photographer and a summer intern emerged from the building to go on a photo assignment, they briefly stopped to join the conversation. The photographer independently mentioned GRIT. Noticeably, everyone who remembered GRIT was male and had some grey hair. The intern did not know what the old geezers (that is, those older than age 40) were referring to.
Fort Wayne Observed has found a nostalgic ad for GRIT, which we present to you in the interest of a fully-informed readership.
