Memorial Day

While many of us take the day off, please take a few minutes to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have these spirited discussions in the blogosphere.

It's been pretty quiet out there since Indianapolis lost the Super Bowl bid to North Texas.  However there is quiet a bit of buzz out the Ft. Wayne Mayor's race.  Advance Indiana, Taking Down Words, Opening Arguments , and Ft. Wayne Observed all have details.

Blue Indiana tells us about the joining of blogging and talk radio.

Dario Franchitti won the Indy 500, albeit more by default than design.

Indy Tax Dollars has a list of really great posts about the city's post-Super Bowl bid future.

I took aim at Indianapolis' growing crime infrastructure problem over at Indiana Barrister.

Like I said, the blogosphere is pretty quiet.  Enjoy your Memorial Day.

Back from Vacation

I went home to Springfield for a few days to get some rest and hang out.  However, between water polo (which was canceled because the horse drowned) and martinis I still managed to keep track on what's been going on in Indiana.

The big story this week, of course, was the disaster primary that occurred in Marion County.  I wrote about it at Indiana Barrister, Gary at Advance Indiana wrote about it., Jim Shella wrote about it, Matt Tully and Rishawn Biddle wrote about it.  Ruth Holladay wrote about it.  Eye on Indianapolis wrote about it.  stAllio's Way wrote about it.  And even TDW had to write about it.  It was just that bad.

Another big item this week was Indianapolis Attorney Terry Record's DWI crash that killed a man.  I knew Terry socially and he will have to be held accountable for his offense.  A lot of other people think the same like TDW, Masson's BlogQuizLaw and even Indy Undercover has gotten into the act.

Indiana Congressmen Brad Ellsworth and Joe Donnelly explain their "no" votes on a federal hate crimes law to Bilerico.

Indy Tax Dollars complains about the Colts stadium.

Blue Indiana
says Jill Long-Thompson will officially announce her candidacy for Governor in July.

In the Agora is a big fan of not-yet-announced Presidential candidate Fred Thompson.

And on a sad-happy note, my good friend Jennifer Hallowell, Executive Director of  the Indiana Republican party is leaving to head up Rudy Giuliani's operations in New Hampshire.  Good luck, Jen.

Bi-weekly Blog Review

Indiana Bloggers, the reviews are still coming in on the Indiana General Assembly.

Doug Masson talks about who exactly is getting a property tax refund in November, you or your mortgage company? Indiana Tax Blog has some good details on this also.

In the interim, Democrats had their annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner.  Taking Down Words, Bilerico and Indiana Barrister were all there last night with notes and commentary.

Gary Welsh at Advance Indiana talks taxes and hate crimes.

Frugal Hoosiers posts about campaign commercials.

Blue Indiana
has words about a big fight taking place in Northwest Indiana.

Eye on Indianapolis writes about BAA getting out of the Indianapolis Airport and Randall Tobias getting out of speaking at IU law school commencement ceremonies.

Ft. Wayne Observed posts about the Ft. Wayne school district hiring a public relations firm and a headline that some probably wishes they didn't write.

Indy Undercover uncovers some more ongoings in the Capital city.   Indy Tax Dollars has a word or two about the city's latest financial dealings.

Ruth Holladay
writes about cornholing.  That's all I'm going to say.
